Frequently asked questions
Does the red overlay get added to my downloaded image?
No. The red bands and lines are only an on-screen guide. The image you download is the clean, cover-fitted 1080×1920 JPG with no bands, lines or labels — ready to post.
What do the red bands mean?
They mark the unsafe zones where the app interface sits: the top band covers the profile picture and close (X) button, and the bottom band covers the caption and action buttons. Keep text and faces out of the red so nothing important is hidden.
Why are the margins different for Instagram and TikTok?
Each app places its interface a little differently, so the top and bottom safe margins shift per platform to match where their buttons and caption sit. Pick the platform you're posting to for an accurate preview.
What image formats can I use and what does it output?
You can drop any common browser image (JPG, PNG, WebP, and more). The result is exported as a 1080×1920 JPG at high quality, with the file name ending in -story.jpg.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The fit, preview and export all run locally in your browser — your image never leaves your device and nothing is uploaded, so it stays completely private.
What if my photo isn't 9:16 — will it be stretched?
No. The image is cover-fitted and centered so it fills the whole 1080×1920 frame without distortion; parts that don't fit the 9:16 shape are cropped, and any gaps sit on a black background.
