Frequently asked questions
What image formats can I resize?
You can resize common image formats including JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP. PNG images are exported as PNG to preserve transparency, while other formats are saved as a high-quality JPG.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The resizer runs 100% in your browser and processes images locally on your device using the Canvas API. Your files are never uploaded, so the entire process is private.
Can I resize by exact pixels or by percentage?
Both. Type an exact width and height in pixels, or enter a percentage from 1% to 500% to scale the image down or up while keeping its proportions.
Does it keep the aspect ratio?
Yes. The aspect-ratio lock is on by default, so changing the width updates the height automatically. Turn it off if you want to set width and height independently.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed size limit. Because resizing happens in your browser, very large images depend on your device's available memory, but typical photos in KB or MB resize instantly.
Will resizing reduce image quality?
Resizing uses high-quality smoothing for sharp results. Enlarging past the original dimensions can soften detail, and non-PNG output is saved as JPG at about 92% quality.
