What image formats can I split?

Any format your browser can open works, including JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and HEIC where supported. Every tile is exported as a PNG regardless of the source format.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The splitting happens entirely in your browser using an HTML canvas, so nothing is ever sent to a server and your image stays 100% private.

How many tiles can I create?

You can set anywhere from 1 to 20 rows and 1 to 20 columns, so you can cut an image into as many as 400 tiles in a single split.

How are the tiles named?

Each tile is named by its position as base-row-column, for example photo-1-1.png for the top-left piece and photo-3-3.png for the bottom-right of a 3x3 grid.

Will the tiles be exactly equal in size?

Tiles are sized by dividing the image dimensions evenly. If the width or height does not divide cleanly by your row or column count, a few edge pixels may be trimmed so all tiles match.

Will splitting reduce the image quality?

No. Tiles are cut at full resolution with high-quality rendering and saved as lossless PNG, so there is no re-compression or loss of detail.
