What image formats can I remove metadata from?

You can strip metadata from JPEG, PNG and WebP images. One file is processed at a time.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Every image is processed 100% in your browser using JavaScript. Your photos never leave your device and nothing is uploaded, so it stays completely private.

Does removing EXIF reduce the image quality?

For JPEG files there is no quality loss at all — the tool removes only the metadata marker segments and keeps the original image data byte-for-byte. PNG and WebP images are re-encoded to drop metadata, which is visually near-identical.

Does it remove GPS location data?

Yes. GPS coordinates live inside the EXIF block of a JPEG, so stripping EXIF also removes the location where the photo was taken. The tool even tells you when GPS data was present.

What metadata gets removed?

For JPEGs it removes all APPn segments — EXIF (camera make and model, exposure settings, date and time), GPS coordinates and similar embedded metadata. The visible image is untouched.

Why doesn't it find EXIF in my PNG or WebP file?

PNG and WebP files rarely carry EXIF metadata. For those formats the tool simply re-encodes the image, which drops any metadata that might be present.
