MP3 Tag Editor — edit ID3 tags online

Use this free MP3 tag editor to view and edit the ID3 tags of any MP3 file directly in your browser. Change the title, artist, album, year, genre and track number, and add or replace the cover art with a JPEG or PNG image. When you load a file its existing ID3 tags and album art appear automatically, and your edits are written back into the ID3v2 tag without re-encoding the audio, so sound quality is never affected. Frequently asked questions

What tags can I edit in this MP3 tag editor?

You can edit the standard ID3v2 fields: title, artist, album, year, genre and track number, plus the embedded cover art (the APIC frame). These cover the metadata that music players and phones display.

Can I add or replace the album cover art?

Yes. Choose a JPEG or PNG image and it is embedded into the MP3 as the front cover. If you do not pick a new image, the existing cover art is preserved when you save.

Is my MP3 file uploaded anywhere?

No. Reading the existing tags and writing the new ones both happen entirely in your browser using local JavaScript. Your MP3 never leaves your device and nothing is uploaded to a server.

Does editing tags reduce the audio quality?

No. Only the ID3v2 metadata is rewritten — the audio stream itself is untouched and never re-encoded, so there is zero loss of sound quality regardless of the original bitrate.

What if my MP3 has no tags yet?

That's fine. If the file has no readable ID3 tags, the fields simply open blank so you can add a title, artist, album and cover art from scratch, then save a fully tagged MP3.

What file formats does it support?

It edits MP3 audio files, and covers can be added as JPEG or PNG images. Other audio formats are not supported — the tool is focused on MP3 ID3 tags.
