Frequently asked questions
Is my audio uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs 100% in your browser using ffmpeg.wasm. Your audio file is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded anywhere, so it stays completely private.
What audio formats can I use?
You can load any common audio file your browser recognizes, including MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, and FLAC. The adjusted result is always exported as an MP3.
How much can I increase or decrease the volume?
You can choose from preset gain levels: 0.5x to make the audio quieter, 1x to keep it unchanged, or 1.5x, 2x, and 3x to make it progressively louder.
Why does it need to download something on first use?
The tool loads the ffmpeg.wasm engine (around 30 MB) the first time you use it. After that first download it is cached and runs offline, with no server round-trips.
Will boosting the volume reduce the quality?
The volume filter re-encodes to MP3, so audio is compressed. Boosting quiet audio raises the sound without adding noise, but pushing very loud audio to 3x can cause clipping or distortion, so pick the lowest gain that works.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but since everything runs in your browser, very large files use more memory and take longer. Typical songs and clips process quickly on most devices.
