How to use
- Drop or select the audio file you want to clean up (any common audio format works).
- Pick a mode: trim only the silence at the start and end, or remove every silent gap in the file.
- Adjust the dB threshold slider to set how quiet a section must be to count as silence.
- Click Apply and download the trimmed MP3 once processing finishes in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
What audio formats can I use to remove silence?
You can load any common audio format your browser recognizes, such as MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, or FLAC. The cleaned-up file is always exported as an MP3 (encoded at high quality, -q:a 2).
Are my audio files uploaded to a server?
No. This tool runs 100% in your browser using an in-browser audio engine. Your file is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded, stored, or sent anywhere.
What is the difference between the two silence-removal modes?
Trim ends only removes the leading and trailing silence, so the middle of your recording stays untouched. Remove all silence strips every silent gap throughout the file, tightening pauses between words or sections.
What does the dB threshold slider do?
The threshold sets how quiet a section must be to count as silence, from -80 dB (only near-total silence) to -10 dB (more aggressive). Lower values are gentler; higher values cut more. The default is -50 dB.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit, but because everything runs in your browser, very large files use more memory and take longer. On the first run a one-time engine (~30 MB) downloads, after which it works offline.
Will removing silence reduce the audio quality?
The tool only cuts out the silent portions; the audible content is not degraded by the trimming itself. The output is re-encoded to a high-quality MP3, so any change comes from that MP3 encoding, not from the silence removal.
