How to make an image background transparent

2026-07-01

A transparent background lets a logo, product shot or sticker sit cleanly on any color. There are two good ways to get one — and which you pick depends on your image.

Option 1: remove a solid background color

If your image already has a flat, single-color background (a logo on white, say), use Make Image Transparent. Click the background to sample its color, nudge the tolerance until it disappears on the checkerboard, and export a transparent PNG. It's fast and precise for flat backgrounds.

Option 2: cut out a subject automatically

For a photo with a busy or gradient background — a person, a pet, a product on a desk — use Remove Background. It runs an AI model on your device to detect the subject and erase everything else, no clicking required.

Want a circular avatar or rounded edges after cutting out? Try Circle Crop or Round Image Corners.
