What character limit should I use for X or Threads?
The default is 280, which matches the classic X (Twitter) post limit. You can set any limit from 10 to 5000 — for example, raise it for Threads, Mastodon, or premium X posts, or lower it to leave room for hashtags and mentions.
Is my text private, or is it uploaded anywhere?
It stays completely private. All splitting happens locally in your browser — your text is never uploaded, stored, or seen by anyone, and it works even offline once the page has loaded.
How does the (1/n) numbering affect the length?
When numbering is on, the tool reserves space for the (1/n) suffix while measuring each chunk, so the text plus its number always fits within your limit. Turn numbering off to use the full limit for text only.
Will it cut words or emoji in half?
No. It splits only on word boundaries and prefers sentence ends and line breaks, so words stay whole. Emoji and other multi-code-unit characters are never cut in the middle either.
Is there a limit on how long my post can be?
No practical limit — paste as much text as you like and it splits into as many numbered chunks as needed. Longer text simply produces more parts.
What happens if a single word is longer than the limit?
If one word (like a very long URL) exceeds the limit, it is hard-split into pieces that fit, since it can't stay on one post. Everything else still breaks cleanly on word boundaries.
