Free Online Screen Recorder

Record your screen, a single window or a browser tab — with optional system and microphone audio — and download the video, without installing anything. This free online screen recorder captures everything locally using the browser's screen-capture and MediaRecorder APIs, so your screen recording is held only on your device and is never uploaded to a server. Choose what to capture, hit start, and grab a WebM file the moment you stop. It's perfect for tutorials, demos, gameplay clips, bug reports and voice-over walkthroughs. No sign-up, no watermark and no time limit — just a fast, private way to record your screen online.

Frequently asked questions

Is my screen recording uploaded anywhere?

No. Recording happens entirely in your browser using the screen-capture and MediaRecorder APIs, and the file is saved straight to your device. Nothing is ever sent to a server, so your recording stays 100% private.

Can I record audio and my microphone too?

Yes. Tick "Include microphone" to record your voice, and keep "Include system / tab audio" on to capture sound from the shared screen or tab. When both are enabled they are mixed into a single audio track. System-audio support depends on your browser and operating system.

What video format is the recording saved in?

Recordings are saved as WebM (VP9/VP8 video + Opus audio), which plays in modern browsers and most players. If you need an MP4, run the WebM file through our Video Converter afterwards.

Why can't I hear system or tab sound in my recording?

Capturing system or tab audio isn't available in every browser. In Chrome and Edge, share a "Chrome Tab" and enable "Share tab audio", or share your whole screen on Windows. Safari and some setups can only record the microphone.

Is there a time or file-size limit?

There's no fixed limit, but very long recordings use more memory because the video is held in your browser until you download it. For long sessions, record in shorter segments to keep things smooth.

Do I need to install an app or extension?

No. It works right in your browser with no download, extension, sign-up or watermark. Use the latest Chrome, Edge or Firefox on desktop; if your browser doesn't support screen recording you'll see a message.
