Frequently asked questions
What does N-up mean?
N-up places several source pages side by side on one larger sheet. 2-up puts two pages on a sheet, and 4-up puts four. It is a common way to print proofs, make compact handouts, and save paper and ink.
What page size and layout are used?
Every output sheet is A4. For 2-up the sheet is landscape with the two pages stacked; for 4-up it is portrait with a 2×2 grid. Each source page is scaled to fit its cell and centered.
Will my page proportions and quality be kept?
Yes. Each page is scaled uniformly to fit its grid cell and centered, so nothing is stretched or cropped. Pages are embedded as vector content, so text and graphics stay sharp.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire N-up process runs locally in your browser using pdf-lib. Your PDF never leaves your device and nothing is uploaded, so your document stays completely private.
Is there a file-size or page limit?
There is no fixed limit imposed by the tool. It processes one PDF at a time and combines all its pages, but because everything runs in your browser, very large PDFs use more memory. Most documents process in seconds.
Can I put 6, 8, or more pages on a sheet?
Currently the tool supports 2-up and 4-up layouts. If your PDF has an odd page count, the last sheet simply holds the remaining pages, and empty cells are left blank.
