Frequently asked questions
Can I add only a header or only a footer?
Yes. Fill in just one field and leave the other blank. At least one of the two is required to stamp the PDF.
How do I add page numbers to my PDF?
Type {page} for the current page number and {total} for the total page count, for example "{page} / {total}" or "Page {page} of {total}". They are replaced automatically on every page.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser with pdf-lib and never leaves your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Can I choose the font, color, or position of the text?
The text uses the standard Helvetica font in black and is centered at the top for the header and the bottom for the footer. You can adjust the font size from 6 to 72.
Are there limits on file size or page count?
There are no fixed limits. Since the work happens locally in your browser, very large PDFs are only bounded by your device's available memory.
Why did some special characters turn into a question mark?
The Helvetica font supports the Latin-1 character set. Common typographic quotes and dashes are converted automatically, but characters outside Latin-1 are replaced with a question mark.
